Birding at the Mouth of the Guadalhorce (Costa del Sol, Malaga, Andalucia, Southern Spain)

Everything goes according to the plan: lower level of water, seagulls and waders on passage...

The water table has significantly gone down in the last weeks at the mouth of the Guadalhorce, leaving it room for seagulls to moult and rest in the area and passing waders to feed in the mud, with the permission of just a few Black-winged Stilts still engaged in protecting their chicks.

Some other outstanding findings were a pair of Ferruginous Ducks and Whiskered Terns, the first Shoveler and a lot of Scopoli’s Shearwaters that can be watched from the shore with the help of the scope.
